The “Made In Britain” eBike Company Moves Up A Gear

The “Made In Britain” eBike Company Moves Up A Gear.

Cyclotricity, the eBike company who established the UK’s first ever assembly factory for electric bicycles, has moved. Their Made In Britain campaign has been so successful they now need to recruit more people to build more bikes and, as a result, they re-located to much larger premises in Southampton in the New Year.

“We were selling around 60 eBikes a week but that has now increased to 100″ says Rami Akily, Cyclotricity’s CEO.  As well as enjoying increased awareness of their brand, Cyclotricity have also announced a distribution deal with Halfords, the UK’s largest bike retailer and, as if that wasn’t enough, they have also launched two new models.  They have updated their popular step through model, the Sahara, and also launched a new high spec folding eBike called The Wallet.

Akily added “The UK’s electric bike market is still at an early stage but the Made In Britain campaign has really helped to increase our sales.  People love the idea that we are assembling the bikes in the UK and they also like to know that, if they have any questions, we have experts ready to help either in the showroom or at the end of the phone.  We were sad to leave our original home but we just outgrew it and we had to find somewhere that would enable us to expand even further”.

2016 looks like it’s going to be an exciting year for Cyclotricity but Akily won’t be freewheeling at any point soon.  He is already exporting his bikes to Sweden but now has his sights set firmly on the US.

I while ago I contacted you about buying an eKit for my bike and trying to work out the spec needed for attempting the coast2coast cycle ride (146 miles from the west coast of England to the east)
