What is the lifespan of a battery ?

Depending on the length of your journeys- we would estimate about about 1000 full charges. If you have any questions, please get in touch!

How fast can I go with an ebike?

To be road legal in the Uk ebikes must be restricted to 250watts and 15.5mph or 24.9kmh. This covers public roads and cycle paths/ shared use paths. Off road ebikes can be de restricted to increase the speed & power output but until experienced at riding off road it isn't advisable.

Do I need a licence or insurance for riding an ebike?

If you have an electrically assisted pedal cycle no licence, insurance or road tax is required for riding on UK roads or cycle paths if the motor is restricted to 250watts and 15.5mph or 24.9kmh. The rider must also be over 14 years of age. If the motor exceeds this and is used on roads and cycle paths it is classed as a motor vehicle and must be registered, insured, licenced and taxed. A motorcycle helmet is compulsory and the use of full finger gloves are advised. Throttles purchased after January 1st 2016 that assist past 3.7mph or 6kmh are for off road use only.

What distance can I get from a fully charged battery ?

Based on a rider weight of 90kg or 14 stone, on smooth, flat terrain with no added weight e.g. pannier bags the distances are as follows; 36/9 battery 25-30 miles, 36/11 battery 30-35 miles, 36/15 battery 40-45 miles. 36/17 battery 45-50 miles. These will vary slightly depending on the level of assistance given by the motor and the use of a throttle. 48 volt batteries will drain faster due to the higher wattage and voltage of the motor it is connected to.

How do I get the most out of my battery ?

Charge the battery for 12 hours before fully discharging. Do this 3 times to condition the battery. After this charge as normal. if not used regularly charge once a month for up to 10 hours ( for a 19 amp battery ). If stored for the winter keep it indoors ideally at room temperature.

Where's my stuff ?

The shipping note emailed to you contains the tracking number and the name of the courier company. Delivery is next working day, unless it extends over a UK holiday. We use TNT for overseas deliveries, Tuffnells for bikes and APC for kits, parts and folding bikes.

Can I use the bike under the influence of alcohol ?

It is an offence to operate e-bikes while impaired by alcohol (or drugs ), even if the blood alcohol level is below .08. If banned because of a DUI, you're not allowed to ride an e-bike, even though you don't need a licence to ride one.

Can I change the non electric components?

Our non electric parts are bicycle industry standard size eg. 27.2mm seatpost, 25.4 handlebar clamp diameter. We are aware that bar width, stem length, saddle padding etc. are personal preference. Most local bike shops stock a range of parts to customise the bike for the owner, be it extra wide riser bars, shorter steeper stems or inline seatposts.
